Since last Sunday, Luxembourg's residents can once again take a seat inside the country's restaurants, bars, and cafés on the condition that they can either present a negative test result from a PCR or rapid test or are willing to take a self-test directly at the location. To this end, the Luxembourg government announced the distribution of 500,000 free self-tests to businesses of the hospitality sector.
On Monday, the municipality of Luxembourg City announced that it would offer "each restaurant or café owner an envelope containing 100 vouchers for free antigenic tests for the customers of their establishment". Vouchers can be collected from Tuesday 18 May at the reception of the City Hall on Place Guillaume II. The vouchers can also be collected from the administrative building called "Rocade" in Rue du Laboratoire.
A gesture which is certainly appreciated by the capital's restaurant owners. In addition, the municipal authorities have also decided to offer a voucher for a free rapid antigen test to customers of Horesca businesses. That latter will be available for collection at the two above-mentioned locations as of 10 am on Tuesday morning. In its press release, the municipality explains that with this voucher "customers will be able to carry out a rapid test in one of the capital's pharmacies".
Customers can thus simply present the voucher at the pharmacy of their choice and will then receive a certificate from the pharmacist, which will allow them to visit the establishments of their choice for 24 hours as provided for by the new Covid-19 law. The vouchers distributed by the municipality of Luxembourg City will be valid until 12 June 2021. The opening hours of the City Hall and the "Rocade" building are as follows: 9 am – 12 pm and 2 pm – 5 pm.
