In the three municipalities, residents have been able to recycle more in their blue bags.
Ordinarily, thinner or crinklier plastics like films and bags or plastic pots and containers are not meant to be recycled in the household blue recycling bags. However, for the pilot project, residents could add these types of plastics to their recycling bags.

Reporting on the results of the project, Valorlux director Claude Turping noted that the plastic fractions collected rose by 16%. This was accompanied by a 25% improvement in the quality of household waste not recycled, which the company views as an 'excellent result'.
Following the success of the pilot project, Valorlux has been permitted to continue their project in the north of the country, namely in the Sidec (Intercommunal syndicate for the waste management of municipalities from the regions of Diekirch, Ettelbruck, and Colmar-Berg) area. This will encompass 46 municipalities in the north of the country, where residents will be able to add yogurt pots, plastic trays, foil, and plastic bags to their recycling bags.

Residents in the area are able to benefit from the scheme from the beginning of October. Whether Valorlux's increased recycling method will then apply to the entire country is dependent on the Ministry of the Environment's decision. Turping said that from their side, Valorlux submitted the application in July. He added that currently, Luxembourg recycles 49% of its waste.
