The Housing Fund was established on 25 February 1979. Since then, some 4052 homes have been put on the Luxembourgish market through the fund. 133 homes were completed in 2017, and 135 the year prior. RTL looked back on a long history, and discussed the funds future, with the fund's president, Diane Dupont.
Located on Boulevard Marcel Cahen in Luxembourg City, the funds mission has changed throughout the years. In 1979 the fund mainly concerned itself with buying real estate/land through which to rent out and build housing. Throughout the years more missions were added, such as in 2002 when, as Dupont notes, the fund also began working in the area of urban development. A new law came into effect in 2017 which established that the fund should first and foremost build apartments for rent and sale.

As the fund is also the proprietor of nearly 2000 apartments, these are over-seen by management law. Dupont sees the SNHBM (the National Affordable Housing Company) as complementary to the fund. However, the fund is moving towards 70% rent housing and 30% sales.
The Housing Fund is planning on bringing roughly 3800 further homes to the market in the next 20 to 25 years. Big projects are already being prepared, such as "Wunne mat der Wooltz" ("living with Wiltz"), as well as projects in Dudelange, Mamer, Luxembourg City, and Echternach.
Right now the Housing Fund is looking for a new director. The procedure will start this week.
