A fire broke out in a cafe in the Bonnevoie neighbourhood of Luxembourg City on Friday night, with firefighters responding in large numbers.

A total of 45 firefighters from Luxembourg, Hesperange, Dippach, Junglinster and Roeserbahn were mobilized to control a fire that broke out in a café located on rue du Parc.

It took nearly two hours for the firefighters to overcome the flames which threatened to spread to nearby buildings. The intervention took place under the eyes of onlookers, who gathered to watch.

The establishment caught fire around 2 a.m., causing a significant release of smoke. The fire caused one slight injury according to the CGDIS. She was taken to hospital for checks.

The CGDIS confirmed on Saturday morning that the relocation of the people affected by this fire has been taken care of by the services of the City of Luxembourg. The mayor of Luxembourg, Lydie Polfer, also made the trip.

Twenty firefighters were still on site Saturday morning. Traffic disruptions can be expected throughout the morning in the area.
