
MPs Fred Keup and Jeff Engelen wanted to know details about how many households and businesses applied for financial compensation in relation to the floods, and how much of the damages was covered by the government and insurance companies.
In her official response, Minister for Home Affairs Taina Bofferding provided insight into the different sectors and the compensation rates. The agricultural sector benefitted from €600,000, the middle class from €4.3 million, and municipalities from €80,000.
The Ministry for Family Affairs paid out €5.9 million to private households. 364 such requests were approved. Insurance companies covered €30,000 in the agricultural sector, €3.2 million for businesses, and €10.2 million for municipalities. €3 million were awarded to private households.
