In his reply to the parliamentary question, Minister of Sport Georges Engel confirmed that the Ministry had indeed bought a set of four chairs, a side table, and two bar stools. However, the Minister specified that the set cost in fact €9,600 and not €11,000.
Engel added that the expense was funded through the state budget in February 2021, i.e. under his predecessor Dan Kersch.
According to the Minister, the purchase was made to “modernise” the furniture from the 70s inside the Ministry of Sport and make the reception of visitors “sportier”.
