A motorist was taken into police custody overnight after crashing into another vehicle and subsequently resisting arrest during a check in Luxembourg City.
At around 1.15am on Saturday, a witness alerted police after observing what appeared to be an inebriated driver manoeuvring in the car park on Place du Théâtre. The motorist collided with another car before driving off without stopping to inspect the damage.
Officers were able to locate the driver shortly afterwards as they were leaving the car park. However, when police attempted to carry out a check, the driver proved uncooperative. The individual refused to present the vehicle’s documents and, during the inspection, started the engine and attempted to reverse. An officer managed to prevent the vehicle from moving backwards.
Due to the driver’s continued resistance, officers were unable to administer a breathalyser test at the scene.
Given that the motorist was considered a danger to themselves and to others, they were placed in detention overnight. An incident report has been filed.
