The accident happened on the CR115 between Cruchten and Schrondweiler and is thought to have occurred between 10pm and 11pm, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. The car caught fire after the crash.
The emergency services from Ermsdorf, Larochette, Medernach and Nommern were called out, but all help came too late for the driver, who died of his injuries at the scene.
