CSV co-faction president Gilles Roth and ADR MP Fernand Kartheiser said it was a shame that the government had abandoned a State of the Nation update in these difficult times.
Roth accused the government of introducing too many “bling bling” policies while failing to tackle the crises affecting the country. Among other things, he expressed concern over generational justice, in particular the financing of the pension system.
LSAP president Francine Closener also touched upon the topic of pensions, saying new sources would have to be found.
DP MP André Bauler pointed out it was not generally reasonable to redistribute funds in a time of crisis because of the need to pursue a careful budgetary policy. Green MP François Benoy was of the opinion that investments ought to be kept high even in uncertain times, while Déi Lénk’s Nathalie Oberweis deplored the lack of major new projects, saying the government seemed to have lost its impetus.
