With Meteolux predicting temperatures as high as 39°C next week, concerns have been raised over Luxembourg’s water capacities. Earlier this week, the Water Management Authority put out a notice calling for residents to be mindful over wasting water.
Now, the municipality of Kayl has declared an “orange” alert due to low water supply, introducing bans on certain activities with a view to conserving water, after consulting with the water syndicate SES.
Among the activities now prohibited for Kayl residents are car washing, filling up swimming or paddling pools, using high pressure power washers, and watering lawns, parks and sports fields.
Other municipalities will also be permitted to introduce these emergency regulations over the coming days.
The prohibitions will not apply to businesses specialising in the activities listed.
