Since then, the two are known as Fedamo, the federation of automobile dealerships and mobility. The new federation represents around 180 companies and 5,000 employees.
Until the next general meeting, both Philippe Mersch, the former president of Fegarlux, and Benji Kontz, the president of the Adal, will remain in charge of Fedamo. The next general assembly will name a new executive committee.
Kontz justified the fusion as both federations had worked together well in the last few years and it was simply logical to come together. In addition to this, the fusion makes Fedamo one of the largest federations in the Grand Duchy, giving it more political and economical weight.
Fedamo will take over Fegarlux's function as the organiser of the Car Festival, which runs between 26 January and 4 February, where customer can go and compare prices and conditions between different dealerships.
Last year, 64,000 were registered with the SNCA. The majority, nearly 53,000, were new vehicles. Mersch highlighted that 2018 was a good year for car dealerships.
75 dealerships will take part in the 55th edition of the Car Festival in Luxembourg and Fedamo estimates that 30,000 people will visit these dealerships.
