The petitions committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss no fewer than 22 petitions, while three more have been published on the Chamber's website.

Three new petitions were published on Tuesday on the Chamber of Deputies website and will be available for signatures until mid-June. The petitions are themed around education, asking to push summer holidays back, provide school hours during the summer break, and to open nurseries and basic education structures on 25 May.

A petition is currently running until 4 June to delay the opening of schools until September. However, as this date falls after the official reopening date of 25 May, the Minister of Education is set to meet with the author of the petition on Wednesday to discuss matters. The petition, which has received 6,600 signatures, has not yet influenced the Ministry's plan to open schools.

A further petition to be discussed by the committee is that created by the collective "Stop5G", in opposition to the installation of 5G in the Grand Duchy. The petition has surpassed the threshold with 5,400 signatures, with a month left to sign.

The public have until 26 May to sign a third petition which is rapidly approaching the threshold for debate: petitioner José Castro has asked for a special payment to be made to support workers in the healthcare sector during these difficult times. The petition currently has 4,480 signatures.

There are 42 petitions available for signatures on the website.

On Wednesday the committee will meet to discuss 22 petitions, covering questions relating to the pandemic, such as the request to vaccinate the whole population prior to exiting lockdown; the request to give employees an additional week's annual leave once the crisis has lifted; the request to open churches to worshippers again; and a refusal of a mandatory Covid-19 vaccination.
