Around 5 p.m. on Saturday, police received calls about a man walking around in Nothum with a machine gun, as well as a metal detector.

The situation was quickly resolved once officers arrived at the scene.

A Dutch citizen found the machine gun with the help of his metal detector. However, a respective law from the year 1966 prohibits comparable scavenging efforts, which means the man was fined.

The police further warns of fraudulent donation collectors, who were reportedly active in Cité Berens in Kayl on Saturday.

A man allegedly identified as a Unicef member to collect money. He had a dark tan, short black hair, and was wearing sweat pants.

Similar reports were made in Tétange, Crauthem, Roeser, and Beggen. In case people have noticed something suspicious, they are advised to contact the emergency hotline 113.

The police suspects that the fraudulent donation collectors may have been looking for places to rob.
