While both the Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB) and the Confederation of Public Servants (CGFP) agreed to the government’s tripartite offer, OGBL announced that they were unable to carry the motion. The following day, OGBL president Nora Back explained: “The compensation is far too insignificant to make up for the postponed indexation. They also failed to consider any of our other demands.”
President Back underlined that the union was willing to compromise, but that the proposed measures could only be deemed unacceptable. She further stressed that they would not betray their voters by agreeing to a second indexation. Two weeks later, the head of OGBL clashed with Michel Reckinger from the Luxembourg Employers’ Association (UEL) during an RTL roundtable discussion.
OGBL have now issued a call for people to join them in protest in the capital on the occasion of Labour Day.
