The police confirmed that a total of nine cars were involved in the pile-up, which occurred just before 6 am.
The motorway was completely closed between Schieren and Colmar-Berg from just after 6 am until 8.44 am.
One person was slightly injured in the collision. Elsewhere in Luxembourg, roads are quite icy at some spots. Gritters have been deployed but motorists should show caution.
