On 31 August 2022, Luxembourg had 14,153 resident jobseekers, Adem announced on Tuesday. These figures are similar to those of the previous month. However, compared to August 2021, the agency confirms a decrease of 1,970 people, i.e., a drop of 12.2%. The current unemployment rate is 4.8%.
On the plus side, the number of jobseekers who have been registered with Adem for more than six months has decreased significantly: -26.7% for those who have been registered for 7-11 months and -20.7% for those who have been registered for 12 months or more. On the other hand, the number of new registrations increased (+13.3%) in August.
However, it should be noted that among the 277 people who registered last month, there were 127 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine.
Another piece of good news for those looking for work is that employers in the country reported 4,038 vacancies in August 2022. This is an increase of 7.8% compared to the previous year and brings the number of available positions to 13,473, according to the latest statistics.
