Organisers were happy one Sunday evening: More than 30,000 visitors came to the Luxexpo holiday fair over the course of three days. More than 230 exhibitors from over 20 countries took part in the holiday fair. This year's fair emphasised so-called "fitcations", active vacations, and the idea seems to have resonated with visitors.
Next year's holiday fair will take place from 17 to 19 January 2020.
More and more people in Luxembourg prefer to book their holidays early.
This trend towards early booking was one of the more noticeable ones at this year's holiday fair. Reservations for the summer holidays 2019 were mostly already made last year when hotels and destinations were largely still available and air fares were still low.
At this year's holiday fair, Spain, Greece and Italy were the most popular holiday destinations for the summer. In comparison to previous years however, prices for Italy and Spain have gone up slightly.

Tourists' trust in countries that had to deal with incidents of terrorism over the past couple of years is also slowly starting to go up again. According to Luxair, the year 2018 marked a positive development in terms of safety and prices.
The average holiday budget for a family in Luxembourg lies at €3,000 for three people over a 10-day period.
