Lenert, who is taking over from Schneider as Minister of Health, handed over the keys to the ministry on Rue de la Congrégation to fellow LSAP colleague Franz Fayot. At the ceremonial handover, Lenert gave Fayot a Cape Verdian scarf, which was a planned gift as his first visit abroad is to Cape Verde next week.
There, a renewable energy project will be inaugurated. Fayot is also in charge of the Ministry of the Economy as of Tuesday. The new minister added that the two roles do not contradict each other, as development cooperation is key to the economy.
On the outgoing side, Lenert said goodbye to her team after a year, a farewell the new Minister of Health found difficult. Stating that cooperation was an area that brought her immense joy, the outgoing minister said she learnt a lot from her team. Broadly, the Grand Duchy has made its mark in development aid, Lenert said.
The visit that had a lasting impression on her, she told the press, was a visit to a refugee camp in Bangladesh. Finally, giving her successor a tip, she stressed he should make enough time for the cooperation mandate. Fayot in turn promised to be present for at least a full day each week.
