6,800 signatures - poll in articlePetition advocating lower taxes for single taxpayers to be debated in Chamber of Deputies on Monday

RTL Today
The Chamber of Deputies is due to debate petition 1188, which amassed 6,800 signatures, on Monday afternoon.

The petition advocates a taxation system which is fairer to single people. The petitioner wrote that Luxembourg is one of the European countries where single people have to pay more taxes than married people.

The purpose of the petition is to find a better balance between married and single taxpayers. Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna had already announced that finding this balance would take place in the fiscal reform currently in progress. The debate will likely allow the government to elaborate on the reform.
