Fans of a wide variety of music genres and films will get their money’s worth at the Philharmonie next season.

The Philharmonie presented its 2026/27 season on Tuesday and, as always, the public can look forward to a packed schedule featuring a number of familiar faces as well as many new discoveries.

A central highlight of the upcoming season is the arrival of the new director of the Luxembourg Philharmonic, the young Hungarian conductor Martin Rajna, who will give his first concert at the Philharmonie on 2 October. His debut marks an important new chapter for the orchestra and the venue’s artistic leadership.

The season will open with a series of tributes dedicated to influential artists and composers, including Steve Reich, John Coltrane, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Alongside these commemorations, several well-known performers will return to the Philharmonie over the coming months, among them Anna Lapwood, Lang Lang, and Janine Jansen.

New this season is the “Heemspill” platform, which is entirely dedicated to the Luxembourg music scene and will feature concerts by Jambal, Blanket Hill & Kill The Innocent, and Serge Tonnar, among others.

The programme also features a strong pop and crossover line-up, with artists including Cat Power, Sophie Hunger, Dee Dee Bridgewater performing alongside Gast Waltzing and the Luxembourg Philharmonic, as well as Josh Island.

Another major highlight is the 10th anniversary of the Atlântico Festival in October, which celebrates Portuguese-speaking music. This edition will include a performance by renowned fado singer Carminho.

New this season as well is “Atlas”, a concert series dedicated to music from the Maghreb, featuring artists from Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. The series will include 10 concerts and a workshop exploring the region’s rich musical traditions.

As for cine-concerts, Home Alone will be shown shortly before Christmas, while throughout the year films such as Interstellar and The Great Dictator will also be screened at the Philharmonie with live music accompaniment.

And of course, children have also been taken into account this year, notably with two festivals for the whole family: Halloween in October and Dreams in April 2027.

The presentation of the new season began with over 400 children singing together with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, including among other pieces “De Feierwon”. It is a project by the Philharmonie that always concludes with a concert in the main auditorium.
