
At 8.30am, an observant neighbour alerted police to a man trying to open the doors of several cars in Niederanven and managing to open the boot of one vehicle. The person was then seen escaping in the direction of Oberanven. Thanks to the suspect description, police managed to locate the fugitive man. He was subsequently arrested by order of the prosecutor’s office and presented to an examining magistrate on Saturday evening.
In Esch-sur-Alzette, police arrested a drug dealer after observing how a potential buyer entered and left a building in short succession around 5.20pm. Officers checked the buyer and found cocaine, which led them to search the building for the dealer. The man was subsequently arrested and both money and drugs were seized.
Also on Saturday afternoon, a motorist nearly hit a pedestrian while trying to enter a car park on Avenue du Swing in Belvaux. The pedestrian was agitated by the full application of the brakes and decided to punch the bonnet of the car with his fist and spit on the driver through an open window. He then took out pepper spray, which he also diffused through the car window. Police arrived at the scene in time to arrest the attacker while emergency services treated the three car passengers.
