
In Esch-sur-Alzette, police were called to Rue Henri-Koch, where a lorry was reported to be driving in a zig-zag manner.
Authorities were able to locate the vehicle on Rue Marcel Reuland, which was incidentally when the driver of the vehicle fell asleep behind the wheel. When police officers woke the driver, he proceeded to throw up and refused to take a breathalyser test. The driver received a provisional driving ban and his vehicle was immobilised.
In Diekirch, Strassen, and Differdange, police officers responded to further reports of drunk drivers. Three drivers who had indulged in drinking had their licenses seized.
On Saturday night, there were reports of cars having been vandalised in two separate locations in Luxembourg City. On Rue Raspert in Weimerskirch, six cars were vandalised. A further eight cars were subject to vandalism in a car park on Rue Stavelot in Pfaffenthal. In total, fourteen cars suffered damage. The perpetrator(s) mainly broke off mirrors and windscreen wipers.
The police also responded to a domestic incident on Friday evening in Niederkorn. A man and woman started fighting on Rue de Longwy, leading to slight injuries to both parties. A passerby intervened and broke the warring couple up. The police later found the man at his home under the influence of alcohol. It transpired that the police were already trying to find the man for another offence. The man was taken to the police station.
A young man was also attacked by five men in Luxembourg City on Friday night. The attack occurred around 10pm on Avenue Monterey. The victim was lightly injured during the attack and had to be taken to hospital. The attackers made themselves scarce by fleeing through Place d’Armes.
On Friday, two perpetrators broke into a home in Dippach on Rue de Luxembourg. The resident was asleep in his bedroom when he was woken up by the noise and he managed to surprise the criminals. They then fled the scene, but the man decided to chase them. Unfortunately, he lost track of them and the police were unable to locate them either.
A further break-in occurred on Saturday night in Clervaux.
