Around midnight, a Bascharage resident alerted the police to a suspicious car, which they observed driving around without headlights. After checking the license plate in the police data base, officers learned that the vehicle was stolen.
Several units were deployed to locate the vehicle, which they achieved after a brief search of the area. While trying to flee, the fugitive car scratched a police vehicle, after which the passengers abandoned it to escape on foot.
The police deployed further officers, including a canine unit and a helicopter, in an effort to detain the fugitives. One of the people was caught at the intersection of Rue Théophile Aubart and Rue Jules Hemmer. The helicopter helped locate and stop a second person soon after.
The police recorded the incident and informed the prosecutor’s office.
