On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, police in Luxembourg City carried out alcohol and drug checks in the Gare neighbourhood on Friday night.

A total of 107 drivers were screened during the operation. Eight breathalyser tests came back positive, with four of those drivers having their licences confiscated on the spot. In seven separate cases, a drug test returned a positive result.

Officers also recorded a range of other offences, including driving without a licence or in violation of a driving ban, as well as operating a vehicle without insurance or a valid roadworthiness certificate.

Two further cases in Leudelange and Hosingen

Elsewhere on Friday evening, two additional drivers lost their licences due to driving under the influence. The incidents occurred in Leudelange at around 7pm and in Hosingen at approximately 8pm. In both cases, the inebriated driver collided with a lamp post and sustained slight injuries.
