
Police are investigating a hit-and-run that occurred just before 8am on Wednesday on Rue des Champs, between Steinsel and Kopstal.
According to initial reports, a white BMW was sideswiped by a dark-coloured SUV during an overtaking manoeuvre. The SUV driver failed to stop and continued driving without addressing the damage caused.
Authorities are urging the person responsible, as well as any witnesses to the incident, to contact the Capellen police by phone at (+352) 244 301 000 or via email at police.capellensteinfort@police.etat.lu.
Police also report the apprehension of a robbery suspect in Esch-sur-Alzette.
On Tuesday, at around 10.30am, a woman had her handbag stolen on Rue de l'Alzette. The victim initially tried to pursue the perpetrator but lost sight of them.
Officers launched a search operation, and a witness alerted a patrol to a suspicious person hiding under a car. The suspect was subsequently located and detained.
During the search, police state that a laptop that had been reported stolen the previous day from a vehicle, along with credit cards, were recovered. Investigations into the theft were already underway at the time of the arrest.
At the request of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was taken into custody and appeared before an investigating judge on Wednesday.
