The police have once again issued a warning against a recurring fraud in which scammers pose as police officers to their victims.
The aim, they explain, is to persuade the victims to hand over their valuables. One recent example occurred on 4 May, when at around 4.30pm a French-speaking man used this ploy at a residential address on Montée de Nommern in Schieren.
Police point out in this context that this does not match the standard they operate to. All Luxembourg police officers can identify themselves and also speak Luxembourgish. They also urge members of the public to make older relatives, in particular, aware of the scam and to keep them informed.
More information about the scam is available on the police website.
