BewarePolice warn of scammers at petrol stations

RTL Today
In recent times, the police have increasingly received reports of scammers asking customers at petrol stations for money.

The culprits claim that they have been mugged and urgently need money to return to their home country. They often speak English and ask their victims for cash, promising to return the money later through relatives. However, victims will probably never get their money back, the police warn on Wednesday in a statement.

Often, the scammers even accompany their victims right up to the ATM to collect the money. In this context, the police advise people to not give any money to these scammers and under no circumstances take them to an ATM. People who are approached in this way are asked to inform the police by calling 113. Victims wishing to file a complaint can find information related to this procedure here.
