Several thousand residents in southern Luxembourg were deprived of power for a few minutes early on Thursday morning.

A technical issue at the Schifflange CREOS power station meant around 9,000 clients suffered a power outage at around 6.08 on Thursday.

Fortunately, on-site engineers were able to rectify the issue fairly quickly, restoring power to Esch-sur-Alzette and Soleuvre after just four minutes.

Customers in a number of other localities, namely Mondercange, Wickrange, Ehlange, Reckange/Mess, Roedgen, Limpach, Sanem, Pissange, Schifflange, Bergem, Huncherange, Noertzange, Fennange, Pontpierre, Leudelange and Foetz, were forced to wait around 13 minutes for their power to return.

The outage also affected streetlights in the area.
