As the emergency services already reported in their bulletin, an accident occurred just outside of Vichten at around 7.30 pm on Friday evening. A driver had crashed their car into a tree which caused the vehicle to be hurled onto a meadow. The driver was able to free themselves. It later turned out that they had been driving while intoxicated, leading the police to confiscate their driving licence on the spot.
The emergency services had to rescue another driver on rue de Munsbach in Niederanven, after they had crashed their car into a lorry. A breathalyser test revealed that the driver of the car was in fact inebriated. The police seized the driving licence on the spot. The alcohol test of the lorry driver came back negative.
At around 2 am, a police patrol decided to pull over a driver on the A4 towards Esch-sur-Alzette because of their erratic driving style. The driver not only turned out to be drunk, but they were also subject to a driving ban, which was subsequently extended. The officers seized the driver's vehicle and issued a fine.
Over the course of the night, police confiscated another four driving licences because of DUI. The incidents took place in Ettelbruck, Dudelange, Beggen, and Kayl.
Between 10 pm and 6 am, police also received several noise complaints.
No less than 51 cases were reported across the country. In most cases, neighbours complained about music or guests that were too loud. Other incidents included customers of cafés, bars, or pubs that were being too noisy or cars honking repeatedly while driving down a street. Some people also called the police because their neighbours had loud parties in their gardens or homes.
