Government councilState to curb the rising price of pellets through subsidies

RTL Today
Household energy supply and the construction works on the Alzingen bypass were at the centre of the government council's discussions on Friday 11 November.

It was decided that the increase in the price of wood pellets will also be curbed by the state. Households will therefore receive a compensation of 35 percent, with a maximum reduction rate of 200 euros per tonne. The law will be applicable for the whole year 2023.

In addition, aid to promote renewable energy and to replace old boilers with heat pumps will be increased. This measure was already agreed in the tripartite agreement.

Another major topic on the agenda was the Alzingen bypass. The government agreed on a route: the road will start before the entrance to Alzingen, then extend behind Fentange with a bridge over the railway tracks before it goes along the motorway to Howald. However, the financing law may not be passed during this term, the minister responsible, François Bausch, told RTL in an interview.

The bill for the introduction of a digital identity card was accepted and it was agreed that an observatory for gender equality as well as a High Council will be established.

The state will also in the future compensate the costs of damage caused by the wolf, the Eurasian beaver or the European badger.
