Fondation Cancer has been organising this event for many years now. The aim is to support people who are fighting cancer, and to remember those who lost said battle.
To celebrate the 25th birthday of Fondation Cancer, the 375 participating teams ran 25 hours this year: from 7.30 pm on Saturday until 8.30 pm on Sunday. A record-breaking number of roughly 13,000 runners took part.

Luxembourg's first Relais pour la vie was organised in 2006. Back then, the event counted about 3000 participants. Since then, numbers have been steadily increasing and have more than quadrupled compared to those of 2006.
Last year alone, Fondation Cancer invested €2 million into cancer research. Organisers hope that the 14th edition of Relais pour la vie is going to bring in some €500,000.
