A press conference at the Ministry of Mobility on Monday morning announced the next step in the tram's steady trajectory towards Luxembourg Gare. As the route is planned to pass alongside Charly's Gare and then right down Boulevard Royal towards the station, commuters and travellers should be aware that this would become a trickier area to cross, said Luxtram's André von der Marck.

Until the end of 2020, many changes will be made to the traffic systems in the area.

Buses will be diverted away from Avenue de la Liberté to Avenue de la Gare, explained the city's traffic official Patrick Goldschmidt, and the station itself would also see a number of adjustments.  According to Alex Kies of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, the bus stops in front of the station will be moved to the opposite side.

In order to keep up with the sheer quantity of these developments, travellers would do well to keep themselves updated, especially online (unfortunately, information has not yet been provided in English).

Another issue to take into consideration is the impact the construction works will have on shops in the area. So far, only five compensation claims have been filed, but as the works continue down Avenue de la Gare, these might well proliferate. Here's hoping that not too many businesses will suffer.

The bus network will be re-organised from 3 November onwards, when Avenue de la Gare will be closed to other traffic. This will affect the bus stops around the Place de Paris in particular.
