The announcement came just before 3pm on Friday, as CFL identified an issue on the network.
Trains are currently not running between the capital and Bettembourg, affecting lines 60 (Luxembourg/Esch-sur-Alzette/Rodange) and 90 (Luxembourg-Thionville-Metz). Although some trains are still running to France, delays and cancellations are to be expected.
A rail replacement bus service has been put in place between Luxembourg City and Bettembourg, and to Noertzange.
Engineers are on site but there is no estimated completion time for the repairs. Passengers are advised to consult the CFL website and social media for updates.
