The government notice comes in light of an outbreak of a measles epidemic reported in the region of Val Thorens, Savoie.
In 2018, there were 82,000 cases of measles in Europe, of which 36 were deadly.
In the press release, the Ministry of Health reminded residents to keep their vaccinations up to date in order to protect themselves and others from the disease. Measles can have serious complications and even lead to death.
Given that Val Thorens is a well-frequented tourist area, the authorities expect the infection to be carried out to other places. Any Luxembourgish travellers should to the area should make sure to have their vaccinations up to date before travelling to Savoie in order to avoid carrying the disease back into Luxembourg.
There have been 50 cases of measles in Val Thorens, of which 36 have been confirmed and diagnosed.
