The alarm that was set off in the Stafelter tunnel, causing the closure of the tunnel and a consequent immobilisation of the motorway, was effectively a false alarm.
RTL sources claim that two individuals manually triggered the alarm and then immediately fled the scene.
The authorities have yet to confirm this information as the police investigation is still ongoing. The tunnel was closed at 10 am and only opened an hour and a half later, after the authorities had verified the tunnel.
