A car and a van collided near the motorway entrance for the westbound A1 motorway at 6.45 am on Wednesday morning. The van planned to join the motorway when the head-on collision occurred. The collision blocked the junction, leading to significant traffic in the immediate aftermath.
The van driver sustained minor injuries, but the woman in the car was less fortunate. She was heavily injured and taken to hospital after having been freed from her vehicle.
The Grevenmacher-Mertert fire brigade and ambulance were at the scene, alongside an Echternach ambulance.
