UkraineTwo Luxembourgers return from their aid mission

Philippe Dondelinger
Christophe Mendes and Antonio Marques took their car and drove to Ukraine with supplies. An experience that has marked them.

Christophe, a photographer, and Antonio, working in aviation, decided to help when they saw the situation in Ukraine. For Christophe, it was his second trip to Medyca, Antonio accompanied him for the first time. A new experience, and not one without risk. After all, they were going into a war zone. But Antonio was sure they would make it back.

Their car was filled to the brink with life-saving supplies - everything that is needed for humans and animals in a country under attack.

We meet them again upon their return and it seems something has changed. Antonio is deeply impressed by what he has seen. The harsh reality faced by the people of Ukraine will take a while to process. One thing they have realised is how lucky they are to live in Luxembourg, and how privileged we are as a country.

But they also know they’ve done their best to help those who are currently most in need of help on the European continent.
