Over the past twenty-four hours, police responded to a series of burglaries and attempted thefts. On Saturday, intruders broke into houses on Soibelwee in Moutfort and on Rue Aloyse Hentgen in Roedgen, where they rifled through several rooms. In addition, on Boulevard de la Foire in Luxembourg City and Muhlenweg in Gasperich, car windows were smashed to gain access to vehicles.
At around 4.20am on Sunday, police received a report that two men were trying to open car doors on Allée du Carmel in Cents. A nearby patrol located two individuals matching the description at a bus stop on Rue de Cents, whereupon the suspects were taken to the police station.
Police were called out 110 times overnight in connection with disturbances of the peace, disputes, or even physical altercations. In most cases, the situation had already calmed down by the time officers arrived, or police were able to resolve matters swiftly on the spot. However, in one case in Luxembourg City, officers had to notify the public prosecutor’s office due to a domestic violence incident. The individual in question was ordered by the public prosecutor's office to leave the premises.
A particularly disruptive night ended with one individual spending the night in temporary police custody after causing trouble in a bar on Rue Victor Hugo in Esch-sur-Alzette. Police found the man to be heavily intoxicated and determined he posed a risk to himself and others, leading to his detention. As required by procedure, he was also examined by a doctor.
