According to RTL sources, the crash occurred at around 8.30am. The car struck the tree with such force that it failed to come to a halt for another 50 metres in a field beyond the crash site. Both occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured, necessitating the intervention of the air ambulance.
Emergency teams from Wiltz, Ettelbruck and the Alebesch and Nordstad ambulances were mobilised.
The road was closed in both directions following the crash. Traffic was deviated via the N12 and N15.
