“Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has been a reminder of how fragile peace can be, even on the twenty-first century, even on European soil,” Ambassador Barrett said at Friday morning’s ceremony.

“On Veterans Day, we are reminded that the peace we enjoy comes at a price and we are humbled by the sacrifices members of the armed forces make in the name of our freedom,” he added.
Veterans Day is marked in Europe as Armistice Day. It not only marks the end of World War One, but also honours the brave men and women who have served in the US Armed Forces at home and overseas.
