It is not surprising that a crack of this magnitude drew the gaze of motorists driving through the Markusberg tunnel on the A13 motorway. Pictures taken at the scene on Monday morning clearly outline the damage on the Schengen-Luxembourg side of the structure.
A closer look reveals that there is more to see than just the crevice, however. One can also detect a marking that indicates that authorities have already discovered the damage near the emergency exit. Furthermore, there are signs of an older and less extensive crack hidden under a layer of paint near the new one.
