The "Auschwitz Committee" organised the ceremony, which was held in the presence of Minister of Education Claude Meisch, Grand Rabbi Alain Nacache, as well as Father Joseph Famarée from the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Since 1969, survivors, family relations, and members of the civil society have commemorated the events of World War II in Cinqfontaines. This year, the Luxembourg government and the Jewish community have agreed on a deal to turn the local monastery into a commemoration centre. The government will however first have to purchase the building.
