Dr Philippe Turk, the President of the Hospital Federation, confirmed this to our colleagues from RTL.lu upon enquiry. The Patient Advocacy Group recently published a statement criticising the strict rules, claiming that they are no longer “justifiable” and that the one-visitor-per-day regulation would make visits difficult for people who rely on someone to accompany them.
Despite this, Dr Turk stated that the strict restrictions were necessary due to the virus’s high prevalence at the start of the year. However, the situation has improved since then, according to Dr Turk.
