Many Luxembourg residents were shocked and saddened when they first heard the news of the death of a waitress working in a restaurant in Kirchberg. So much so that some have organised a white march on social media. The event will be public, but the organisers stress that it must remain a “tribute” to the victim.

The march will leave from Glacis at 2.30pm and end in the park behind the Coque. “The family does not wish to go any further,” says the page dedicated to the event. On site, balloons will be released into the air, which will conclude the march “in memory of our colleague”.

The organisers stress that no banners of any kind will be accepted. Participants are encouraged to wear a white T-shirt but they are “not required to do so” in order to participate. Those who wish to place flowers or candles in front of the restaurant may do so after the march, the organisers conclude.

Context: the body of a 46-year-old woman was discovered on the morning of 17 April 2022 in the basement of a restaurant on Avenue John F. Kennedy. The public prosecutor’s office indicated a few days later that the victim’s death had occurred in the context of a robbery.
