Unseasonably warm temperatures of 18°C in March are set to give way to a sharp cold snap this week, with freezing conditions and possible snowfall returning to Luxembourg. According to Meteolux, light rain showers are expected from Wednesday morning into Thursday.
While snowfall is possible, it is unlikely to settle due to afternoon temperatures ranging between 4 and 9°C.
Motorists should nonetheless be prepared for winter conditions. The mix of precipitation and dropping temperatures means winter or all-season tyres remain mandatory in Luxembourg and in some neighbouring communes in Lorraine.
Conditions are expected to worsen over the weekend, with temperatures potentially dropping as low as -4°C on Saturday. Snowfall cannot be ruled out during this period.
As always with weather forecasts, conditions may change, so it is advisable to monitor updates throughout the week.
