Due to the ongoing Gulf crisis, the press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is a key moment rife with tense expectations. The assembly meetings, due to last until next Monday, will see dozens of different heads of state hold speeches in front of the General Assembly, including Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.
This Thursday marks the 7th plenary meeting, which is scheduled to last 5 hours and 45 minutes. A total of 17 speakers will give addresses, including European Council President Donald Tusk, Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas, and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel.
Bettel's address is expected to start at 8.30 pm in Luxembourg.
In additional to bilateral meetings, Bettel met with the Luxembourgish community based in New York. Bettel believes Luxembourgish expats are the best ambassadors for the country.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn has also been in New York for the past two days for the 74th edition of the UN General Assembly. The minister met with a number of bilateral partners, including Palestine's president Mahmoud Abbas. One of the major topics was of course the recent parliamentary elections in Israel.
A new Israeli prime minister could introduce changes for the Palestinian people. Asselborn, a longtime proponent of a two-state solution, brought the suggestion up again as a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs was also involved in discussions concerning the refugee issue. Asselborn met with the director general of the International Organisation for Migration, Antonio Vitorino. The two highlighted the relationship between the IOM and Luxembourg in collaborating successfully.
