"To build a better and more equal world for women and girls through service, advocacy and education." Helping women worldwide achieve greater autonomy by improving their legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status – that is the motto of the Zonta Club in Esch-sur-Alzette.
The members of the Zonta Club have put this motto into practice with the presentation of a €4,000 donation to the Stëmm vun der Strooss association. This financial contribution will be entirely dedicated to the social paediatric institution KannerStëmm, which provides daily support to children and families facing severe socio-economic difficulties.
During the official cheque presentation, Alexandra Oxacelay, director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, warmly thanked the members of the Zonta Club. She took the opportunity to explain the association's work in more detail, highlighting the diverse range of services and numerous support programmes established to break the cycle of precarious employment in Luxembourg.
Launched in 2021, KannerStëmm offers psycho-social support and targeted emergency material assistance tailored to the needs of children. Thanks to this support, the organisation directly finances essential daily expenses, such as childcare fees, nappies, vital hygiene products, and even utility bills that have become unaffordable for these households.
The importance of this service is constantly growing. To illustrate, KannerStëmm's multidisciplinary team, primarily made up of psychologists and social workers, supports dozens of families, providing concrete and individualised solutions to difficult and complex life situations.
Beyond the substantial financial contribution, Zonta Club Esch-sur-Alzette's civic engagement demonstrates the direct impact of local philanthropy. This donation helps to alleviate the financial burden on vulnerable parents while simultaneously ensuring a calmer and safer living environment for their children.
