An independent expert commission will be tasked with investigating the existence and extent of any potential abuse or internal dysfunction at the “Fondation Lëtzebuerger Kannerduerf” children’s charity.
The board of directors and the charity director published a statement on Friday confirming their decision to establish the independent commission made up of four experts.
The commission will launch a call for witness testimonies, asking those affected or those who have witnessed anything at the charity to come forward. In late October 2025, the public prosecutor’s office confirmed to reporter.lu that a former director of the children’s charity was under investigation following allegations of indecent assault.
The charity management had referred the case to the judiciary in March last year. The allegations date back around 20 years. The accused is said to have sexually harassed an eighteen-year-old girl at the time. Now retired, he worked at the children’s village in Mersch for nearly three decades.
