The virtual race meant regular runners would not miss out, such as Albert Recken, who has participated every year to date. Recken said he missed the usual meeting with friends after the race concluded, in which they planned for upcoming sporting events and looked back at those of the past year.
The 37th race was also marked by around 20cm of snowdrifts.
