The Frenchman, who won the prologue time trial, was victorious in the competition's first stage on Thursday.

The Tour de Luxembourg’s first stage on Thursday covered 191 kilometres, between Luxembourg City and Hautcharage.

The final sprint was marred by a collision between Laporte and Justin Jules, with Jules narrowly passing the finishing line as he fell off his bicycle. He was taken away in an ambulance after the fall.

Eduard-Michael Grosu achieved third place. Kevin Geniets flew the flag for Luxembourg, coming in 15th, followed by Ken Conter in 17th, Jan Petelin in 26th, Gaëtan Pons in 38th, Pit Leyder in 41st, Tiago da Silva in 44th, Tom Wirtgen in 55th, Raphael Kockelmann in 79th, Tom Thill in 81st, Tim Diederich in 93rd, and Maxime Weyrich in 105th. Gilles Kirsch was the only Luxembourger to lose time, coming in at 106th place. Cédric Pries abandoned the race.

Christophe Laporte continues in first place with an 11 second lead over Marcel Meisen and Piet Allegaert. Kevin Geniets is the fastest of the Luxembourg racers with 16 seconds, in 8th place.
